A destructive investigation identified several sources of moisture infiltration which were contributing to increased moisture levels beneath the existing concrete floor slab of this facility. The roof replacement of this thirteen story office building located in the uptown Charlotte area presented numerous challenges in regards to restricted roof access, limited material and equipment staging, significant mechanical, plumbing and electrical work and performing the work while the building was fully occupied.
This combined office and warehouse facility was fully operational during the 2015 roof replacement project. The existing ballasted EPDM roof assembly (consisting of washed river rock ballast, EPDM membrane and 4.5” of rigid insulation) was removed to the structural steel decking.
